I head up the Art Department at St Josephs Specialist School and College, Cranleigh . We currently hold the Gold Arts Mark for our practice and the school is deemed 'outstanding' by OFSTED.

I lead a thriving department which includes a teacher of Creative Media and an Artist in Residence. You can see him on the right with his painting which was in the Royal Academy's Summer Show.

Learner's Art

Many of our learners have severe

autism but this does not diminish their

capacity to create beautiful works of art.

In fact, as they often view the world differently, this means their work is injected with a freshness. The picture on the left, 'Donuts', recently won a National Art Award in 'Create! Art for Autism'

I believe in using sensory materials to aid learners in Art lessons, as well as Maketon and other strategies.

I also taught for many years in mainstream primary education and was recognised for my promotion of knitting in schools through the Craft Council's: 'Knit one, Pass it on Campaign'

You can see the film I feature in here:'This knitted life'.
