Testimonials

'Kath is everything that you would want from a textile worker in the community. She is imaginative, creative and flexible and - just as important - knows how to get on with all sorts of people. A great pleasure to work with. '

'When I joined in Kathryn's group with the ladies who attend the Moorcroft day centre in Westfield, I had a really lovely time, I learnt a new way to approach rag rug making and as a result of this have carried it on as a hobby.'

Sally Legerton, workshop participant

'Nearly 20 years on and I still think of my lovely year 4 teacher most days. Mrs Hitchings is a legend amongst my primary school friends. She treated us with respect, love and nurtured creativity in every aspect of our education. Our minds were truly expanded, as were our music tastes! My favourite song is still 'don't worry, be happy'.

I am the person I am today because of that year with Mrs H. I am now an art/textiles teacher myself and often find myself  drawing on my wonderful experiences in an attempt to emulate the kind of teacher she was to us. A truly beautiful person inside and out. You need Mrs H in your life! She's amazing!!'

'Our paths first crossed in 2011 when I met Kathryn at the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace where she had volunteered to help teach visitors to knit. From our conversation I think Kathryn’s life had always revolved around knitting – a true knitting crusader – always knitting with anything that came to hand- to hand, not just wool, plastic, paper fabric, you name it and she’s knitted with it. Luckily she wanted to tell the whole world about knitting and seemed an obvious choice when ITV contacted me to recommend knitters to appear on the Alan Titchmarch chat show in celebration of National Knitting Week that year. Supported by family and friends she has been behind numerous flash mobs, yarnbombings and installations and yet more television appearances. Kathryn is one of the lucky ones who has made a career through knitting and I’m sure it won’t be too long before she’s on our screens again…'
